Just plugged the camp sites post code into AA Route Finder and it says I should take the A road up from Leicester instead of the M1... is this right or has AA Route Finder sending me round the houses??

That sounds fair. Some sort of route involving the A614 (if I recall my numbers correctly) would be likely to be right for people not using the M1.

I'm going to be putting my faith in my trusty TomTom. I may end up in Germany somewhere...

Yeah I trust in a hardcopy map and a compass if all else fails.

Either of the M1 or the A1(M) will do a good job of getting you most of the way there - so routefinder directions will probably depend on which you are nearer to. Are you coming from Leicester? That's probably close enough that use of A-roads will be better than doglegging onto the motorways and back. Will probably be better for traffic, too, if you're travelling at rush hour.

Personally I prefer dowsing for motorways with a hazel twig. And if that doesn't help, there's always casting bones and ritual sacrifice...or google maps.

No We are coming up from Chippenham (By Bath) and it says get on the motorway for one junction then take the ring road round Leicester (north) then keep following the A roads... was just wondering if the AA knew something that I don't... mind you they say it will take 4 hours... which means not on site till 9pm... or maybe even 10pm but can't be avoided due to stupid school finishing hours.
